Processing of batteries: valuable products instead of harmful waste. A production facility located in the Brest Oblast, which produces high-grade lead from spent batteries, marked its anniversary. The lead which is produced here is exported to Poland, Estonia, Russia, Germany. Belinvesttorg-Splav Limited Liability Company located in Beloozersk is the only enterprise processing lead-containing waste and producing high-grade lead in the country. The bulk of raw materials is obtained from spent batteries. If they are just discarded, it will cause a negative impact on the environment. But if they are processed (as they say, recycled), it enables the production of high-quality lead, which is in demand in engineering, medical industry and nuclear energy. The first batch of lead plates was manufactured five years ago. The specificity of production assumes thorough environmental control. What does it mean? The Director of the company explains: dust from the furnace, where lead is melted, does not fly into the pipe, but settles in the filters and is used again. Other process waste from processing — ash and electrolyte — is also transferred to respective processing enterprises. As a result, we have a waste-free production, which is harmless both for the employees and the environment.
