The most majestic mammals – bison listed in the Red book of Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. More than 70 years, scientists, biologists, ecologists, morphologists, geneticists, and other experts engaged in the conservation and enhancement of the population of bison in the territory of the Republic of Belarus. Group of companies 1AK-GROUP went to Belovezhskaya Pushcha, to find out where and how to live the symbol of Belarus the preservation of the species and how each can support the Belarusian bison.
Employees of the national Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha", has told that at the present time on the territory of the Republic of Belarus was founded on 11 bison micro-populations total number of individuals of 1886, 572 of which lives on the territory of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Success of Belarusian experts in the field of preservation of the species is that the first country in the world in numbers the bison is Belarus, but the species remains vulnerable, and its conservation in the long term remains a priority.
The story works for the conservation of bison on the territory of the Republic of Belarus began in 1946. Then, by the decision of the International society for the rescue of the bison, on the Belarusian side of the Bialowieza forest on the Polish side was brought five animals of Bialowieza-Caucasian line of European bison. Subsequently, by 1967, all of these bison were relocated from the forest, and in return imported 53 bison of the Bialowieza line.
The national Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Ministry of natural resources and environmental protection of the Republic of Belarus developed a Concept for the conservation and sustainable use of bison in Belarus, including science-based schemes for their resettlement. For each micro-population programme of action, aimed not only at preservation and enhancement of the bison, but preservation of the purity of line of the Bialowieza bison, which is included in the Red list of the International Union for conservation of nature (IUCN) and is a vulnerable species (VU by criterion D1, IUCN ver. 3.1, 2008).
Currently on the territory of the Republic of Belarus the preservation of bison are handled by different institutions (subordinately micro populations), including national parks, nature reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, state forestry companies, agricultural-industrial complexes, private hunting. Special attention to the bison as endangered mind is also given by the environmental inspection.
Active work on preservation of the species and is conducted at the international level. The national Academy of Sciences of Belarus (DNGOs SPC NAS of Belarus for bioresources, SSI "Institute of genetics and Cytology of NAS of Belarus"), Bialowieza national Park, the Warsaw University of life Sciences, Institute of biology of mammals (Republic of Poland), Institute of ecology and morphology of animals, Russian Academy of Sciences in fields of study bison (morphological and craniometrical, genetic, helminthological) publish joint publications and practical recommendations for the conservation and management of bison populations.
Work in the field of preservation of the species requires many costs, including financial. Today everyone can bring their contribution to the preservation of the population. "First battery company", together with the national Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" launched the project "Support of the bison", where everyone can contribute to the preservation of an iconic symbol of Belarus. 5 rubles each sold battery the same brand of "Zubr" will be listed in Fund of Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
