Belinvesttorg-Splav LLC will take part in a joint project of the European Union and the Republic of Belarus

In the framework of cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Belarus on the issues of environmental protection, one of the priority projects is to support the effective monitoring of emissions to ambient air and radiation monitoring and improving environmental management in Belarus. One of the companies that have been selected in the draft, was Belinvesttorg-Splav LLC.

Of the 156 companies in ten industrial sectors of the Republic of Belarus on the results of the selection to participate in the project selected 6 plants. The main selection criterion was the existence of management systems of environmental protection are closest to the EU standards.

In the framework of the project at each facility the procedure will be the analysis of existing environmental permits, in particular the methodology used for the theoretical estimation of emissions with the aim of checking their relevance and effectiveness in modern conditions.

After analyzing the participants of the project will be a pilot enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, each of which will be developed by the integrated environmental permit according to the procedures of environmental permitting in the European Union.

To achieve effective cooperation, the project participants will visit three selected environmental agencies of member States of the EU and the relevant industrial enterprise, for comparison, matching, and further improve the system of integrated environmental permitting in Belarus.

The project runs through may 2021 to facilitate the improvement of air quality in the Republic of Belarus and to bring it in line with the best European standards and practices.

Upon completion of the project it is expected:

— bringing the legislation on air quality management and monitoring in accordance with EU legislation,

— improvement of the network of air quality monitoring and radiation monitoring of Belarus, as well as appropriate data management system according to the Shared environmental information system,

— enable permissions to emissions in a single system of environmental permitting in accordance with diractive EU on industrial emissions

— development and introduction of advanced methods of inventory of emissions and environmental management according to the Kiev Protocol on register of emissions and transfer of pollutants to the Convention on access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice on issues relating to the environment adopted in June 1998 in the Danish city of Aarhus.
