1AK-ALLIANCE uses environmental management system requirements in its production activities, according to the international environmental management standard and is certified by the international organization Bureau Veritas for compliance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015. The international standard ISO 14001 is designed to define, control and monitor environmental aspects, and is also focused on the control and improvement of environmental management in our company.
LLC Accumulator Alliance is a plant for the production of a full range of starter lead-acid batteries for cars and trucks, buses, as well as automotive equipment, which requires compliance with the quality and environmental management systems with accepted international standards.
1AK-ALLIANCE in the production of lead-acid batteries undertakes to:
comply with legal requirements in the field of environmental protection, professional human health;
to introduce new progressive safe technologies aimed at improving the quality of products and meeting existing and future environmental requirements;
rational use of material, natural and energy resources;
ensure constant monitoring of the state of environmental pollution sources;
plan and implement environmental protection measures aimed at reducing the amount of emissions, discharges of pollutants and industrial waste, as well as measures to achieve the established safety standards;
constantly improve the environmental management system and increase its effectiveness.
When designing the plant, the strictest measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the environment and people.
The project section «Environmental Protection» has passed the state environmental expertise of the State Educational Institution «Republican Center for State Environmental Expertise and Advanced Training of Managers and Specialists»:
— positive conclusion No. 759/2017 of 26.05.2017;
— positive conclusion No. 270/2019 of 18.01.2019;
— positive conclusion No. 570/2020 of 08.04.2020.
LLC Akkumulyatornyy Alliance carries out its activities on the basis of environmental permits received in accordance with the established procedure:
— permit for the disposal of industrial waste No. 1867/19 dated 12.06.2019 with amendments and additions dated 21.03.2021, issued by the Brest City and District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (4 types of industrial waste);
— permit for the disposal of industrial waste No. 33-21 dated 09/29/2021 with amendments and additions dated 03/29/2022, issued by the Mogilev Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (9 types of industrial waste);
— permit for emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air No. 01/03.0060 dated 09.03.2023, issued by the Brest Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (10 types of pollutants).
Water resources
А unified system of household drinking, industrial and fire-fighting water supply has been applied аt 1 AK-ALLIANCE. The source of water supply is the municipal water supply of MPUE «Brestvodokanal».
The company has installed local treatment facilities (purification of acid-base effluents from heavy metals and sulfates), which allow cleaning up to the required MPC standards. The treated industrial wastewater is partially discharged into the sewer network, and the main part is sent for further processing in order to obtain distilled water.
Household effluents are diverted to the municipal treatment facilities of MPUE «Brestvodokanal».
The collection of surface wastewater is carried out through local treatment facilities located on the territory of the enterprise, and then discharged into the existing storm sewer network of the FEZ «Brest», equipped with its own treatment facilities.
Atmospheric air
According to the sanitary norms «Hygienic requirements for the organization of sanitary protection zones of enterprises, structures and other objects that are objects of impact on human health and the environment», approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus No. 35 of 15.05.2014, the regulatory protection zone is 500 meters. (p.4, p.188 — Production of lead batteries).
To clean the removed air from the process equipment, modern aspiration systems and gas cleaning plants in the amount of 6 pieces with a high degree of purification are used. For dry emissions, bag filters have a degree of purification of 99.98%, for wet emissions, scrubbers have a degree of purification of 98%.
The probability of multiple discharges and emissions is absent due to the specifics of the technological process (there is a continuous purification of air and wastewater from pollutants) and the use of modern automated air and wastewater treatment systems (in case of emergency situations, production stops).
Acid Storage
To ensure environmental and industrial safety, the sulfuric acid warehouse provides for the use of storage tanks that are certified in the Customs Union, and which are equipped with a double wall with a vacuum protective shell and a damage alarm, and an emergency container is installed in case of emergency depressurization. Due to the extremely low volatility of sulfuric acid, emissions into the atmosphere during leakage will not occur.
Local environmental impact monitoring has been organized at Accumulator Alliance LLC within the framework of industrial environmental observations and industrial sanitary control. Instrumental measurements are carried out at regular intervals:
— physical and chemical factors on the territory of residential buildings, public and administrative buildings within the radius of the border of the sanitary protection zone of LLC Accumulator Alliance, measurements are carried out quarterly at 12 points for the content of pollutants in the air: lead, nitrogen dioxide and carbon oxide.;
— the content of lead and sulfates in the soil (two test sites) at the border and within the sanitary protection zone.
In order to promptly obtain safety data on the impact of the enterprise on the components of the natural environment, measurements are carried out quarterly.
